By now we have all heard of “At the Motors” pedestrian area above the National Theatre; it’s on virtually every travel site as “the place to hang out” evenings in Bucharest. Nestled amongst a restaurant and promenade it is a place for cheap beers, cheap eats, and hours of conversation. Too bad it may be closing…

Apparently the National Theatre is “due” for renovations. Whether this is a political movement, or just plain old urban re-development, it ‘ll be starting fairly soon around the beginning of the year. If anyone knows what “renovations” consists of for the theatre, I would love to know. Maybe it needs some more arches? Either way, the scheduled construction will be slotted for completion in four years. buhbye La Motoare… looks like Lipscani will have a slight void to fill!
