Sitting on the “strip” of clubs beyond the Turabo Cafe at Pita Romana lies a walkway of “many options”. The best of these options is by far, “Downtown” As you approach Downtown, you will probably notice the friendly bouncers standing out front next to the Honda Valkyrie “Rune” motorcycle that seems to have been a long-time fixture at the entryway. Walking in this dance club, you;ll have a “coat check” in the lobby and a nice open area to gather your group and proceed to your “hopefully pre-reserved” table. Downtown features a Victorian-esque theme in its cozy yet airy seating area. There is also a longer than usual bar area that is suitable for pulling up a stool or standing and having some conversation with the bartenders. The staff there are all incredibly friendly and welcoming, always willing to find time have a chat with you even in a full house. If you’re clubbing for the purpose of seeing dancers, than this place will work well for you also, with every seat in the house being a front row seat to the dance floor and dance “podiums” of the girls. For late night bar-hopping and clubbing, check this one out!

Mojo

What good is a trip to Lipscani, or Bucharest for that matter without a stop in to Mojo Music Club! After Bucharest Expat and many others had one of the greatest New Year’s events ever for the beginning of 2010 at Mojo, we’ve been sold. The three level layout gave us everything we needed to make time fly on a night out. On the ground level, you’ll find the well appointed, walk-up bar. The best place to meet other expats and share a drink or two. Downstairs is the spot for true music lovers, as live rock bands play their greatest hits every night around 10 o’clock. Upstairs you can check out the casual seating area where you may catch some karaoke… all in all this is an extremely well done venue and we would recommend it to anyone within the first 30 seconds of “what to do and where to go” conversation. Drinks are well priced, and the crowd is great…
