This is a VERY important question you need to be asking yourself BEFORE you leave, possibly even before you decide where you are going to be leaving to.
Why are you moving? The answer to this question will greatly define where you will be going and why? Lets take a look at the most common reason that people want to go on an “extended” vacation…
- Search for the dream lifestyle
- It’s too hard and stressful where you’re at currently (i.e. you’re fed up)
- You don’t like the government and/or its policies
- You’re running.
- You seek to better your cultural knowledge and increase your life experiences by traveling
While some of these reasons may sound ridiculous… bear with me for a moment as we explore in depth, these five reasons.
Searching for that dream lifestyle. Well, as you read so far on the previous pages, it is not only possible to find and achieve your “dream” lifestyle (we’ll show you how to achieve this in further along in the site) but it is also happening quite often. Now we’re not talking about you becoming the next Bill Gates or Donald Trump simply because you’ve packed a bag and moved out of your comfort zone… nice try… but we are talking about making those fantasies of a stress and worry free lifestyle come true. The fact is… because you are on this website, and share a common line of thinking with each other, Staying where you “Are” just won’t cut it. So thats why I say moving abroad absolutely can create this new lifestyle for you especially with the resources we’ll provide to you on this site. Although this may sound like extreme common sense, I will tell you anyways; If you are dreaming of that Caribbean lifestyle, please make sure you move to a tropical island somewhere. If you are searching for a bustling modern city, please make sure you move to a fully developed city with hi rises and skyscrapers. This point may seem brutally obvious, but let me give you a good example of why people get caught up in “emotion” and fail to research something properly and end up in a situation they weren’t fully expecting. I have a good friend who relocated to Buenos Aires. He came to Buenos Aires, Argentina, South America, because he wanted that hot, tropical lifestyle, on the ocean, with the spanish style buildings thrown in the mix, so he feels as though he’s relaxing in the south of Spain on the Mediterranean coast. Well, at first glance that looks like what you’d get. South America, so it must be hot, spanish speaking, so check on the next items… all’s good right? Wrong. You see… Buenos Aires is decidedly European. Sure they speak Spanish-ish and its located in South America, and if you point to it on a map…well its basically on the ocean…. but… the buildings are European, in fact, mostly French.
Buenos Aires is about as far from the equator as South Carolina, or Georgia. So it’s mild, but certainly not tropical. And… last but not least, BA is mostly a port city, so finding coastline suitable for doing anything other than parallel parking your personal oil tanker probably won’t happen. You see.. if properly researched, this person probably would have found Montevideo, Uruguay more appealing.
So look, the bottom line here is research, research, and research some more. We’ll give you all the tools you need on this website to make sure this doesn’t happen to you. Our tips & tricks in a foreign land will set the lightbulb in your head off!
Let’s now look at numbers two through four. This is simple, but many people neglect to do this “planning” step. if you are running, research extradition laws…if any. If you don’t like the government identify what elements don’t particularly suit you, and compare that to the laws in your targeted city. Your best bet for this? Click here for a list of all the Embassy sites for most countries. Even using Wikipedia will give you a general, and broad view of “the bigger picture”, definitely take a look through there, but by all means, dig much deeper than that.
The last but not least reason a lot of people are traveling abroad is to gain this cultural growth, and to build incredible chapters in their book of life. This is great, I admire this highly, as well as think it is a good way to bring children up… teaching and learning through experiences and immersion. You’ve all heard the story about someone who just threw a backpack on their shoulder and headed off across Europe, or wherever. Not only is this true, but it is happening a lot more often, and it is becoming easier and easier to do. Click here to learn more about how to travel the globe with you and your backpack for as long as you desire. Although this is simple in concept, there are things you will need to know. Things that will save you a lot of difficulty and probably a lot of money. In the interim, continue reading the articles on this site, www.ExpatsInRomania.com and obsorb the stories of travelers like you.
So whatever your intentions for traveling, be aware of them and plan accordingly!
